I started October Photography mainly because I LOVE pictures. LOVE THEM. To look upon a photograph, full of emotion, full of life, full of the MOMENT, is a priceless experience and can express so much. Photos take you back…back to a precious instant in time that you never want to forget, for a reflection to be cherished with no end. They are tangible, vivid memories that can bring to mind anything you have missed or anything you want to return to. I decided to call my photography “October” for many reasons…fall has always been my favorite time of the year. The cool breeze, the glorious skies, the refreshing scents, the sound of leaves crunching and blowing in the wind, the sight of bright oranges and vibrant reds in the trees…I LOVE it! October, to me, is more beautiful than any other month in the calendar year. On October 12, 2002, my life, like the leaves, changed colors…along with my last name! I married my college sweetheart Ryan and went from “Sprott” to “Heringer”. What an amazing day and an even more amazing adventure we have been on! On October 15th, 2007, we discovered we were pregnant!! Ensley Elizabeth Heringer entered our world on June 26th 2008, and although not in October, that’s certainly where she started!!! She is another reason I have become a self-taught photographer, she is my favorite subject and I get lots of practice! Probably the single most pivotal and significant event in my and my family’s life occurred on October 19th, 2006. My brother, Daniel Matthew Sprott, passed away in his sleep at the age of 29. That October was the last time I talked with him, held him, heard him, loved him, and got silly text messages from him. What we have now are the memories he etched in our heart and minds, which are so dramatically evoked and nurtured by photographs. When you lose someone, you want to remember everything...EVERYTHING. Looking back, I wish I had just spent a day or two, following him around with the camera (although he probably would have been annoyed!), snapping candidly the Daniel we knew and loved. I know I don’t want to miss another moment, memory, or emotion of anything, so I take pictures. I want to do the same for you. As your life changes, as you and your family change, as you go through life’s ups and downs, I will help capture your memories. The ones you want to return to and the ones you never want to forget. That is why I started October Photography.
